Netherlands Reporter Sees the Momentum of Wayne Johnson Campaign

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Jan Postma, a reporter from BNR Nieuwsradio, traveled from the Netherlands to Georgia this week to experience the dynamics of American politics at both the Presidential and Congressional level.

Postma chose to spend a day with the Wayne Johnson for Congress campaign, and what he saw was true momentum in Johnson’s campaign to retire 32-year incumbent Sanford Bishop in the Nov. 5 election. Johnson knows a change will be good for citizens in Macon, Albany, Columbus and 30 counties in Middle and Southwest Georgia.

“We knocked on doors in several neighborhoods and Jan had the chance to interview people we talked to,” said Mike Nixon, a senior adviser to the Johnson campaign. “What we found was tremendous support for Wayne and President Trump, even in neighborhoods that have traditionally voted for the Democratic candidate.”

Nixon was focused on showing Postma a balanced view from both Republicans, Democrats and Independents, but in traveling through five neighborhoods, they could not find a single Democratic voter.

“I did my best to find someone voting for Vice-President Kamala Harris and Sanford Bishop so Jan could hear from both sides, but we failed,” said Nixon. “I believe Wayne’s grassroots strategy is really paying off because, on the ground, the momentum is clearly with Wayne Johnson.”

Nixon also took Postma to a local pawn shop where the reporter heard firsthand about the financial pain being experienced by voters in Muscogee County and Columbus.

“What the owners of the business told Jan was that people getting selling goods and getting loans was at a record high level, and that is because of the Biden-Bishop policies that have caused the cost of everyday basic needs like food, gas, rent and insurance to record highs,” said Nixon.

Dr. Wayne Johnson was born in Macon and has been a lifelong resident of Georgia. Johnson is a husband, father, grandfather and U.S. Army veteran. He obtained his undergraduate and doctoral degrees from Mercer University and his master’s in business from Emory University.

Johnson is a respected former banker who has established businesses in Middle and Southwest Georgia, other parts of Georgia and internationally. He has enjoyed both cattle and tree farming and has worked for major corporations with ties to Middle and Southwest Georgia.

“My message has been and will continue to be that we must address the kitchen table issues impacting every family in our district,” said Johnson. “A change will be good for the citizens of Middle and Southwest Georgia, and with their help, we will make a change happen this November.”
