Johnson Will Double the Number of Staff Present in the 2nd District to Better Serve You

Who represents you in the U.S. House of Representatives is the closest federally elected person to you and your community. The job of a congressman is to serve the citizens of the district where he or she was elected.

For the past 32 years, it has been Sanford Bishop’ job to serve you. Wayne Johnson wants to change that this November as he faces Bishop in the November General Election, and he is ready and committed to serve every citizen and community in the 2nd District.

“It is hard to believe the number of voters that I have talked to who say they cannot remember the last time they saw Sanford Bishop or his staff in their communities,” said Johnson. “Things will be much different when I am in Washington.”

Johnson said he will have five district offices when he is elected. He will have fully staffed field offices in Columbus, Macon/Centerville, Albany/Lee County, Thomasville and Bainbridge. Bishop has three field offices with little staff. In addition, Johnson will have a mobile field office that travels to the counties that do not have field offices.

Here is the truth about how Washington works. A majority of congressional offices spend their budget on Washington staff, as Sanford Bishop has done,” said Johnson. “Unlike Sanford Bishop, I will dedicate more resources to my field offices than my staff in Washington. It is just the opposite of what Sanford Bishop has done during his entire 32 years in Washington.”

Johnson said a congressman has a strong voice in Washington, the kind of voice that can resolve issues regular citizens have with the Federal government.

Johnson has three campaign senior advisors working with his campaign: Vivian Childs, Alton Russell and Mike Nixon. On this page are their first-person reasons for supporting Wayne Johnson for Congress and his commitment to ‘Stop the Stupid in Washington’ and solve the Kitchen Table Issues impacting families today.

Vivian Childs is a commonsense conservative who was the first Republican woman to run against the current incumbent. She understands all the communities of South Georgia and is an asset to the campaign.

Mike Nixon is also a commonsense conservative who just wants what is best for every citizen of the 2nd Congressional district.

Alton Russell is a long-time active Republican advocate from Columbus who works across the aisle.
