Biden-Bishop Policies Causing The Financial Pain You Are Experiencing

The Biden-Bishop partnership has made the cost of basic needs unaffordable for all families in Macon, Columbus, Albany and all counties in the 2nd Congressional District over the past three years.

Since President Joe Biden was inaugurated in January 21 and Rep. Sanford Bishop started his 30th year in the U.S. House of Representatives, this is the devastating impact on families:

  • Overall food prices are up 25.8%
  • Egg prices are up 40.1%
  • Butter prices are up 56.8%
  • Baby food prices are up 24.1%.
  • Gas prices are up 35.7%.
  • Car insurance rates are up 36%.
  • Rent has increased 30%

“The Biden-Bishop economy has wrecked the finances of families, that’s why a change will be good for all citizens if they vote for me,” said Wayne Johnson, who is working hard to defeat Bishop in the November General Election. “I hear it everywhere I go from regular citizens of the district. I have talked about Kitchen Table Issues for three years, and now families are sitting around the kitchen table trying to decide what bills must be paid and what can wait a month.”

The Biden-Bishop economy has wiped out more than $3 trillion in savings from American families. The cost of home ownership is the highest in three decades and real average wages for workers are down.

The rate of inflation was 1.6% when former President Trump left office. It spiked to 9.1% in 2023. The reason was the out-of-control spending under Biden-Bishop. Rep. Bishop voted yes on the $1.6 trillion Inflation Reduction Act in August of 2022, and that legislation is a large part of why the basics of life are unaffordable to citizens of the 2nd District.

After the vote, Bishop said, “The Inflation Reduction Act puts people over politics, lowers costs, creates good-paying jobs, and builds safer communities for all Americans.”

Clearly, that is not the case today.

Bishop also said the legislation would save Georgia families $1,000 a year on electricity. The cost of electricity is up 33% under the Biden-Bishop plan.

Bishop also voted for the Lower Food and Fuel Act in 2022, saying, “It is a top priority for me to lower prices for All Americans.”

Clearly, that did not work.

“Sanford Bishop talks about fiscal discipline on his website, but his voting record proves he is very undisciplined when it comes to spending your tax dollars,” said Johnson. “Sanford Bishop loves printing money. Biden is retiring and it is time for voters in the 2nd District to retire Sanford Bishop.”

Studies show that the average family is now spending $1,000 more a month than it did three years ago. As the cost of goods and services has skyrocketed, real wages – your take-home pay – have decreased. Add those two facts together and you can see how the conversations around kitchen tables in the 2nd District have turned from positive to negative, from hopeful to dire.

As one farmer told Johnson, “Gas is too high. Food is too high. Everything is too damn high, and Bishop has not done a thing to help us out.”

Wayne Johnson will bring common sense to resolving Kitchen Table issues.
